CardVault ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the CardVault mobile application.
Your business card data never leaves your device. Scanning and text recognition run entirely on-device, and your cards are stored only on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit). Nothing is ever uploaded to our servers, shared with advertisers, or sent to any third party.
Information We Collect
Account Information
No account or sign-up is required. The app uses your device's iCloud account to privately sync your data.
Business Card Data
Contact information: Names, phone numbers, email addresses, companies, titles, addresses, and other data extracted from scanned business cards.
Card images: Photos of business cards you scan are stored on-device and in your private iCloud database.
Notes and tags: Any notes or tags you add to your cards.
Device Information
Camera access: Used solely for scanning business cards. Images are processed on-device for OCR.
Photo library access: Used only when you choose to import a business card image from your photo library.
How We Use Your Information
To provide the core functionality of scanning, storing, and managing business cards.
To sync your data across your devices via your private iCloud account.
To process in-app purchases.
Free users see banner ads served by Google AdMob. We request non-personalized ads (npa=1), so no advertising identifier (IDFA) is used for tracking.
We do NOT:
Sell your personal information to third parties.
Use your business card data for advertising or share it with advertisers.
Share your business card data with other users.
Access your contacts, location, or any data beyond what is described above.
Data Storage and Security
All data is stored on-device and in your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit).
Data is protected by iOS Data Protection on device and encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple iCloud.
Your data is private to your iCloud account and is never accessible to other users or to us.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained as long as you keep it in the app.
You can delete individual business cards, or all cards at once, at any time within the app.
Deleting a card also removes it from your private iCloud.
Third-Party Services
The app uses Google AdMob to display banner ads to free users. Ads are non-personalized. Google may collect limited device information to serve ads and prevent fraud; see the Google Privacy Policy. In-app purchases are processed by Apple; we do not access your payment or financial information.
Children's Privacy
CardVault is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app and on this page.
